Day 84

Dear Jenny Lewis,

I regret to inform you that I will not be in attendance at your show in Lawrence tonight. Please come back soon! When I am not penniless, preferably. In lieu of seeing you live, watching this video all night shall suffice.

Best of luck tonight.

Day 66

Today, my total in the drive-thru at Dairy Queen was $6.66. If I die today, at least I managed to get a Cookie Dough Blizzard and some Fried Mushrooms.

Oh, what a week it has been! My dear '98 tan Toyota Camry (the Champagne Supernova) drove its last mile. Nearly 239,748 miles, and probably twice as many fond memories. I have inherited the family minivan. She is a '98 white Toyota Sienna that I have deemed "Miller". She was the van my family took when we drove to Cooperstown, NY for George Brett's induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and has even been to Niagra Falls, Canada! She also took myself and my dear friends to Bonnaroo last summer. We have a pleasant history and will most likely have a pleasant future together.

My good friend Mollie Duvall recently returned from a geological expedition with her school and gave me a crystal she excavated from a cave down in Arkansas! She said it would bring me good luck. So far, so good :)

BTW, the new Passion Pit album, Manners, is quite fantastic.

Day 50

Dear Blog,

Hey, sorry I have been neglecting you recently. I have been extremely tied up with school, work, and various other things (including this really nasty cold I seem to have acquired). I promise to start paying more attention to you, as school has finally finished and summer has arrived. I even made something the other day! You'd be proud of me. I gave it to my mom for Mother's Day.

(I apologize for the horrid quality, I will update soon with a better image)

Also, my little brother will be graduating on Thursday, so, a big ol' congratulations is in order!

I'll be seeing you soon.

Day 35

There has been a lot lot lot on my mind recently. This summer I am going to do nothing but work on my portfolio, work, and hangout. I have been looking online for a good pair of sandals. Sandals are a definite necessity for the summer. I want to get a dirty tan and wear the same outfit everyday; shorts and a tank top. The opportunities for adventure and experience this coming summer are enough to last a lifetime. I finally feel like myself again.

I have come up with a theme for my creative activities this summer.

Having the ability to think is quite fantastical. Our perceptions are the only thing that we can and claim to know, legitimately. Existence is experience. Experience is independent. Having the capability to know independence is one of the few graces of humanity. I can do and create anything I desire and claim it to be perfect because I know that it is perfect. I perceive it's perfections and imperfections, see the beauty in both, and am satisfied. The consistency of perfection, however, is lacking. How does one measure consistency? Numbers and figures can only go so far in life. The mind can focus, distort, exaggerate, simplify, process, complicate, think, learn, etc, but none of us will ever share the same experience. We CAN share the idea of something, but nothing identical. The juxtaposition of the theory and the reality create beautiful chaos in our lives. Through my work this summer, I want to express emotion through color, line, texture, and form, but still allow the subject to be physically representational of an idea or thought. I want to explore all mediums-- paint, graphite, clay, fabric, digital, whatever! I just want to do it.

So, starting the first day of summer, I am going to take this theme on at full-force.

Wish me luck.

Day 28

Never think it would be "fun" to get your leg hair ripped off via wax. Never let your friends talk you into, either. Never use eyebrow wax and cut cloth napkins to wax your legs. If you ever do, however, make sure to take video documentation. It will legitimize the entire experience... I think.
